Installation for Windows XP and Windows 2000
21st Century Sailing Simulator will run on Windows XP and Windows 2000. However you may need to alter the normal installation process when installing to a computer with either of these versions of Windows.
When installing Version 2.0 from the CD, or installing the Version 2.03 download, you may be asked to install Microsoft DirectX after the installation of Sailing is complete. You do not need to install Microsoft DirectX if your computer is running Windows XP or Windows 2000. DirectX is already included with these versions of Windows. However, if you just cancel the setup program, the installation of Sailing will be removed from your computer. To avoid this:
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and select the Windows Task Manager. Pick "21st Century Sailing Simulator 2_0 Multiplayer Setup" from the Task Manager list and press the End Task button. This will stop the setup program, leaving a correct installation of Sailing on your computer. Then, to run Sailing, start it from the Start button menu.
On Windows XP, you may get an error message when the Sailing installation program completes. If you see an error message like this:
"Severe error. DirectX does not support the Windows version on the system."
follow the same procedure above to stop the setup program without uninstalling Sailing.
